Description
This is a terrace of three houses located on the High Street South in Rushden. They were built in 1826, as evidenced by a datestone. The houses are constructed from squared coursed limestone with slate roofs. Originally, each house had a two-unit plan, and together they form a nine-window front. The windows are unhorned sash windows with glazing bars; those in number 120 have stone heads with keyblocks, while those in numbers 122 and 124 have rendered heads. Number 120 features a central six-panel door with panelled reveals, a moulded wood surround, and a cornice. Number 122 also has a central six-panel door, a reeded wood surround, and a lattice porch, while number 124 has a four-panel door with a rendered head. The building has a diagonal brick cornice and brick stacks at the ends. A 17th-century datestone has been reused and is set into the left side of the first-floor window of number 124. A datestone is also present at the rear. The interior of number 120, which was originally occupied by the builder, has a slightly higher standard of detail. The window reveals are panelled. The interiors of the other houses have not been inspected, but are noted to have similar reveals. The terrace was originally known as Bayes Yard, named after the builder.
