Description
Rock House is a house located on Stamford Road in Easton on the Hill, built in 1834 for William and Anne Goodwin, as indicated by the datestone G/WA/1834. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof. It originally had a two-unit plan with extensions added to the rear. The house is two storeys high and has a three-window range of 6-paned sash windows, each set under gauged stone heads. The central entrance consists of a 6-panel door, also beneath a similar stone head, and is topped with a later 19th-century wooden gabled hood. Stone stacks are located at both ends of the house, and the datestone is positioned to the left of the centre. There is a mid-19th-century extension at the rear. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted that the staircase rises between the walls.
