Description

Easton on the Hill Village Hall is a building that was originally a school, constructed around 1867. It features squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and a Collyweston slate roof, designed in a T-shape plan and is a single storey. The elevation facing New Road has a three-window range consisting of two- and three-light stone mullion windows, with ashlar quoins and gable parapets. At the ridge, there is a conical ventilator.

To the left, there is a gable with a large three-light stone mullion window that includes plate tracery, cusped-head lights, and roundels. Attached to the left is a small square tower with a square ashlar cupola topped with a spirelet. The tower features a clock face and houses a chiming bell. An inscribed panel in the tower, though partially legible, notes the endowment and construction of the current school. The right elevation has a gable with a similar three-light window with plate tracery and a lean-to porch. Inside, the building retains its 19th-century roof structure. The school was originally endowed by Richard Garford in 1670 and was rebuilt on this site in 1867 to serve as a National School for both girls and boys, at a cost of £1,200.
