Description
Nos. 30 and 32 on High Street are two houses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. They are constructed of squared coursed limestone and feature Collyweston slate roofs. Each house was originally likely designed with a two-unit plan. The buildings are single storey with attics and together form an irregular five-window range, with 20th-century casements set beneath 20th-century concrete lintels. There are two six-panel doors, also under similar lintels, positioned between the window ranges. The houses have four gabled eaves dormers, which contain casement windows in a style from the 19th century. The ridge lines of the two dwellings differ, and there are stone stacks at the ridge and ends. The left gable has a thickened wall with a rendered coping and a rounded corner. There are 19th-century extensions at the rear. The interior of No. 30 has not been inspected, but it is noted to have had a former cross passage. The room to the left of No. 32 features an 18th-century plaster ceiling with scroll leaf decoration and a plain cornice. These houses are included for their group value.
