Description

This is a former public house, dating from the early 18th century. It is located in Gold Street, Wellingborough. The building is constructed of regular coursed limestone and ironstone, with a slate roof. Originally planned as two units, it now presents as a two-storey, two-window range. The ground floor has C20 casement windows, while the first floor has C19 casement windows with glazing bars, all set beneath wooden lintels. A four-panelled door is located to the left of the centre, also under a wooden lintel. The left gable features an ashlar parapet and kneeler, while the right gable has a brick parapet. Brick and stone stacks are visible at each end of the building. C19 extensions have been added to the rear. The interior retains several original features, including stopped chamfered ceiling beams and rafters, and an open fireplace with a bressumer.
