Description
Nos 33 and 35 on High Street are two dwellings that date from the mid 18th century and 19th century. They are constructed from squared coursed limestone, with some sections banded in ironstone, and feature a slate roof. The original design was a two-unit plan, and the buildings rise two storeys with an attic. The front has a four-window arrangement of sash windows, most of which have glazing bars and are set beneath chamfered wood lintels. To the right of the centre, No 35 has a 19th-century four-panel part-glazed door with a moulded plaster surround and a flight of steps leading up to it. There is a cellar window located to the right of this door. The buildings have a chamfered plinth and ashlar gable parapets on the right side, along with two gabled roof dormers. Brick stacks with ashlar plinths are positioned at each end. The rear elevation includes a 19th-century range that is set at right angles, along with a brick lean-to. The entrance to No 33 is located at the left end. Although the interior of No 35 was not inspected, it is noted to have spine beams and an early 19th-century staircase.
