Description
The wall and steps attached to the south of the Laundry and encircling the rose garden at Rockingham Castle date mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries, though they are on the site of an 11th-century keep. The structure is made of squared coursed limestone, ironstone, and brick, topped with ashlar coping. A flight of stone steps is attached to the side of the retaining wall. The garden at Rockingham Castle is included in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission County Register of Gardens at Grade II*.
