Description
Lower Lodge is a lodge house built in the mid-19th century for the Rockingham Castle estate. Constructed from limestone ashlar, it features a Collyweston slate roof and has a T-shape plan in the Tudor style. The building is a single storey with an attic. The main front has a one-window range, which includes a 4-light stone mullion window on the ground floor and a similar 3-light window in an eaves dormer above. To the left, there is a 19th-century plank door with a stone surround that has a 4-centre head. The gable parapets and the ashlar stacks at either end are topped with pairs of octagonal ashlar flues. The left and right elevations are similar and also feature eaves dormers. A large plaque on the left gable displays the arms of the Watson family. The interior has not been inspected.
