Description

Hillstone Cottage is a mid-18th century farmhouse situated on the south side of Hargrave Brook Street. It is constructed of regular coursed limestone with a 20th-century plain tile roof. The building follows a 3-unit plan, with two storeys and an attic. The front has a 4-window arrangement of 20th-century casement windows with glazing bars, set within original openings and beneath wooden lintels. There are two 20th-century doors, also under wooden lintels, located centrally and to the far right. A further attic window is located under the eaves to the right of the centre of the building. Brick stacks are present at the ridge and at the end gable. Inside, the cottage features an open fireplace with a bressumer and chamfered spine beams.
