Description

Box Tree Cottage and the attached house are a pair of dwellings, likely built in the late 17th or early 18th century. The building is timber-framed, originally with a three-unit plan, and is constructed with cob, now rendered and covered with thatch and a corrugated iron roof. The exterior features a four-window facade with casement and horizontal sliding sash windows, all with glazing bars. A six-panel door with glazed top-lights is located to the left of centre, sheltered by a wooden porch. The building has a large stone stack with brick flues rising from the ridge and an external brick stack at the left gable end. A Sun Fire Insurance plaque is positioned to the right of centre. The rear elevation includes plank doors and a single-storey brick extension dating to the 19th century. While the interior has not been inspected, it is reported to contain ceiling beams and an open fireplace.
