Description
Hargrave War Memorial is located at the edge of the churchyard of the Church of All Hallows, which is a Grade II*-listed building, next to the main entrance. The memorial features a simple, rough-hewn granite wheel-head cross that rises from a tapering plinth, which is set on a square, two-stepped base.
On the front face of the plinth, there is an inscription that reads "1914 - 1919/ LET THOSE WHO COME AFTER/ SEE TO IT THAT THESE NAMES/ BE NOT FORGOTTEN" followed by ten names. This inscription is made with applied metal lettering. Additionally, a small tablet made of a different stone is placed on the top step of the base, recording men who fell in later conflicts, with the inscription "(1 NAME)/ 1939 – 1945/ (1 NAME)/ SUEZ," which is incised.
