Description
The Old Rectory is an 18th-century rectory with later additions, located on Shelton Hall Road in Dean and Shelton. It is constructed of colour washed brick and coursed rubble, topped with hipped clay tile roofs. The building has a double pile plan with later extensions added to the rear and stands two storeys tall.
The entrance front may have originally been symmetrical but appears asymmetrical due to the later rear extensions. It features two three-light wooden mullioned sash windows on the ground floor, along with two sash windows and one double sash window on the first floor. The entrance has a moulded panelled architrave with a hood and a rectangular fanlight without glazing bars above a half-glazed door.
At the back, there is an early 19th-century wing that is said to contain some very thick internal walls, possibly dating back to the medieval period. Additionally, a 20th-century one-storey and attic extension projects from the northeast elevation of this back wing.
