Description
The Red Cow Public House is a 17th century timber-framed inn located on Covington Cross Street. It features a lobby entry and has a three-unit plan, consisting of one storey and an attic. The building is topped with a steeply pitched thatched roof, which has an end stack to the east and a ridge stack. The timber frame is partly exposed, with sections that are plastered and some painted brick infill. There is one small dormer window with horizontal sliding sashes that include glazing bars. Flanking the doorway are two larger horizontal sliding sash windows, along with one modern casement window to the east. Inside, the public house has stop-chamfered ceiling beams.
