Description

Two houses, numbers 17 and 19, stand on Ashley Main Street. They were built in the late 18th century and the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of brick, with a chequered pattern in places, a stone plinth and a slate roof. Originally each house had a two-unit plan, and together they form a four-window range of 19th-century casement windows set under shallow brick arches. The doors are four-panel affairs, also set under similar brick arches, located between the window ranges. Four hipped roof dormers are present, along with brick stacks at the ends of the buildings. The right bay of number 19 was built in the mid-19th century. The interiors were not inspected but are noted to contain ceiling beams. The houses are included on the list for their group value.
