Description
The Old Forge is a house dating from the 17th century and mid 18th century. It is built of regularly coursed ironstone and has a 20th-century reconstituted stone slate roof. The building has an L-shape plan and is two storeys high. The main front features a two-window range with plain two-light casements set under wooden lintels. There is a central 20th-century door also beneath a wooden lintel. The gable ends have brick and stone parapets with brick stacks. The left elevation is similar and likely originates from the mid 17th century. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a bressumer in the rear wing and the base of a cruck, although the upper section has been renewed.
