Description

Peartree Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is built of regularly coursed limestone and features a thatched roof. The original design was a two-unit plan, and the cottage is a single storey with an attic. It has a two-window range of plain casements that sit under wooden lintels, with attic windows located above under eyebrow dormers. The central door, which is from the 20th century, is positioned beneath a wooden hood. There are brick stacks at both ends of the building, and the rear has 20th-century lean-to extensions. Inside, the cottage includes an open fireplace with a bressumer and chamfered ceiling beams. It is also noted to have a raised cruck roof structure.
