Description
Two houses, 4 and 6 Corby Road, were built in the 17th century, with later development in the 18th and 19th centuries. A datestone indicates 1697. The houses were originally designed with a three-unit and a one-unit plan. They are constructed of squared coursed and regular coursed ironstone and limestone, with some banding, and have slate and 20th-century plain tile roofs. The front of the houses presents a six-window façade with 20th-century casement windows, some with glazing bars, and beneath simple wooden lintels. There are also 20th-century doors located between window ranges, each with a 20th-century hood. A single-light window with a moulded stone surround is located to the right of the door at No. 6. Ashlar stacks are present at the ridge and end of the roofline, two of which have moulded cornices. A datestone is set into the stack at the right gable. Inside No. 6, the interior features stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
