Description

19 The Square is a building that includes a barn and five adjoining cottages, now converted into a house and garage. It dates back to 1652 and the mid-19th century, was reroofed around 1900, and underwent remodeling in 1961. The structure is made of ironstone with brick dressings and features slate roofs. It has two brick coped gables with kneelers and three brick ridge stacks. The building is two storeys high and consists of five bays.

The former barn, located on the right, has a near-central 20th-century door with a hood supported by posts, flanked by single three-light casements. To the right of this, there is a larger three-light casement, and further right, there are smaller casements set in a blocked doorway. All these openings feature wooden lintels. Above the door, there is a datestone inscribed 'J P 1961'. To the left of the door, there is a two-light casement, and to the right, there are a three-light and a two-light casement. The north gable displays a datestone inscribed '1652'.

The former cottages on the left have two glazing bar casements on each floor, with the lower ones also having wooden lintels. The rear elevation mainly consists of 20th-century openings and glazing. The interior, remodeled in 1961, retains remnants of a pole rafter roof.
