Description
Whitelands is a house located on Main Street in Yarwell, dating from the early 17th century and the 19th century. It is constructed from squared coursed limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof. Originally designed as a two-unit plan, it has been modified to a three-unit layout and stands two storeys high. The front facade has an irregular arrangement of four windows, which are 19th-century casements set under wooden lintels. There is a 20th-century casement window on the ground floor to the left of the center and a 20th-century lean-to porch to the right of the center. The house has ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks located at the ridge and ends. There is evidence of an earlier roof line visible on the front elevation and the right gable. A 20th-century glazed porch is present at the rear. Inside, the central room and the kitchen to the right feature spine and wall beams. The building was likely originally a house with an attached farm building, which was subdivided in the 19th century to create two separate dwellings.
