Description
First and Second Cottages are a pair of cottages located in Adstock, dating from the 17th century and later. The first cottage features a timber frame with whitewashed brick infill and some rendered areas, topped with a thatched roof and a stack on the left gable. It is one-and-a-half storeys high with two bays, and has paired 19th-century wooden casement windows. The upper storey has thatch eyebrows, and there is a central boarded door. To the left, there is a 19th-century brick extension with a slate roof.
The second cottage, built in the late 18th to early 19th century, is constructed of brick. It has a thatched roof on the left side and a tiled roof on the right, with brick stacks located at the centre and the right-hand gable. This cottage is two storeys high with two bays, featuring paired 20th-century barred casements, including a three-light window on the upper right. There is a boarded door to the left, set within a timber gabled porch, and a single-storey brick extension to the right with a tiled roof.
