Description

Adstock Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on East Street in Adstock. The cottage is timber framed with roughcast rendered and whitewashed walls, and some brickwork to the gable end. It has a half-hipped thatch roof with a central stack featuring some thin brick at its base. The cottage is one-and-a-half storeys high, with two bays. The right-hand bay has paired leaded casement windows on the ground floor and in the thatch, along with a fire insurance plaque. Similar windows are visible in the gable end. The left-hand bay is obscured by a later extension set at a right angle. This extension has a tiled roof and two casement windows with cambered heads, as well as an entrance to the right. Notably, the right-hand ground floor room of the cottage retains stop-chamfered spine beams and joists.
