Description

The Old Rectory is a house dating from the 18th century, which was extended and re-faced in the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and features a two-span roof, tiled at the front and slate at the rear. The building has two storeys and the front has been refaced, showcasing seven bays of barred sash windows with gauged brick heads. The centre of the front elevation features a two-storey canted wooden bay with an architrave surround to the sashes. To the left of centre, there is a six-panelled door in a moulded wooden surround, topped with a modern hood supported by brackets. An additional bay projects to the left, while a single-storey 20th-century extension with a slate roof is located to the right. The rear of the building is irregular and consists of several different constructions. The right-hand bay is gabled and made of chequer brick, featuring a triple sash window on the first floor and a five-sided 20th-century bay window on the ground floor. The remaining bays have a stone-coped parapet and barred sash windows with gauged brick heads: two on the left are from the late 18th to early 19th century, four in the centre are mid-18th century, and there is a long staircase window on the upper right along with a canted bay window with 20th-century casements in the centre.
