Description
Ambers of Amersham, formerly known as the Mill Stream Restaurant, is a building that dates from the 17th and 18th centuries and has undergone alterations. It is designed in an L-shape, constructed of red brick with timber framing in the upper part of the south block, and features old tiled roofs. The east wing includes a moulded brick cornice. The building has two storeys, with the south wing featuring a door on the left side, three modern casement windows on the ground floor, and four large mullion and transom diamond leaded windows on the first floor, one of which has a three-light design and rectangular panes that appear older than the others. The east wing originally had a door and three 2-light 19th-century iron lattice casements, along with three similar windows on the first floor and a plain dummy window above the door. At the end of the south wing, there is a low two-gabled wing. The rear elevation has a recess for a waterwheel, modern weatherboarding, and three modern dormers.
