Description
Lantern Cottage is a probably 16th-century timber-framed cottage located on the south side of Frogmore Lane in Long Crendon. The cottage features whitewashed stone and brick walls and has a thatched roof with half-hipped ends, while the south gable is weatherboarded.
The structure is one storey with an attic and has three windows, which include two and three-light casements with glazing bars. There are also two attic casements positioned above the eaves within the thatched roof. The interior reveals two exposed posts that suggest cruck construction, although there is no internal evidence of cruck trusses; instead, the trusses are of the post and tie beam type with exposed spine beams and wind braces. An off-centre brick chimney stack completes the exterior.
