Description

The walls, gate piers, and gates adjacent to Taplow Lodge at the entrance to Dropmore date from the early 19th century. They are constructed of ashlar and feature wrought iron gates. The design is symmetrical, with the walls curving forward on a convex plan towards small end piers. The gate piers are cruciform, with moulded bases, caps, and urn finials. The central carriage gates are flanked by standards and include lower pedestrian gates, adorned with scrolled ornament and overthrows.
