Description
Bowles Cottages, dating from the 17th century, are located in Chalfont St Giles and consist of two cottages (Nos 3 and 4) with a barn to the southwest. The cottages are two storeys high and have three bays with a central entrance, along with a matching one bay extension to the south. They are constructed of red brick with flared headers and feature an old tiled roof and a band course. The windows are triple leaded casements with cambered openings, and the extended bay has two paired casements on the ground floor. Stacks are positioned to flank the original bays, and there are later lean-to extensions at the rear. The barn, which is from the 18th century, is weather-boarded and timber-framed, with a tiled roof and a brick plinth, and includes a north aisle and double central doors.
