Description

War Memorial, unveiled in 1920.

MATERIALS: Mansfield stone.

DESCRIPTION: the memorial comprises a Gothic cross with an octagonal column and plinth on a three-stepped base, standing approximately 12ft high.

The panel on the plinth bears the following; TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF THE MEN/ OF WINSLOW WHO GAVE THEIR/ LIVES IN TWO WORLD WARS/ 1914-1918, beneath which appear the names of the 50 fallen from the First World War, followed by 1939-1945 and the names of the 13 fallen from the Second World War.

A smaller second panel is located beneath, which bears the following; AND IN THE CAMPAIGNS/ 1951 MALAYSIA followed by a solitary name, with 1982 FALKLANDS below also followed by a solitary name.
