Description

This is a small house dating from the 17th century, which was significantly altered and refaced in the mid to late 18th century. A long range of former outbuildings was added to the rear during the 18th and 19th centuries. The front of the house is constructed primarily of vitreous brick laid in a header bond, with a red brick plinth, quoins, and window surrounds. Moulded brick eaves top the facade, and the roof is of old tiles, with brick stacks; the stack on the right incorporates thin brick from the 17th century. The house has two storeys and an attic, with three bays in width. Ground-floor windows have been altered to include four-pane sashes set within gauged brick heads, and originally were narrower. The first floor has three-pane sashes with moulded frames. Gabled dormers feature paired wooden casements. The central doorway is accessed via a four-panelled door within a wooden surround detailed with moulded pilasters and a flat cornice hood supported by cut scroll brackets. The rear range incorporates re-used 18th-century windows.
