Description

This is a house dating from the 17th century, which was significantly altered and refronted in the mid- to late-18th century. It is timber-framed, with the frame visible in the left gable. The front of the house is colourwashed render, topped with a plain parapet, and has a tiled roof. A shared brick stack is located to the left, and serves No. 26. The house has two storeys, a basement, and an attic, with two bays. A fine 18th-century shop front features bowed windows on either side of a central door, all within a wooden surround and with a moulded entablature supported by small pilasters. The left-hand window has four panes set within a curved wall, while the right-hand window has six by four panes with thin glazing bars. The entablature projects forward over a five-panelled door, which is flanked by two slender Doric columns. The first floor has three-pane sash windows. The attic has gabled dormers with paired casements. Similar casements are present in the cellar. A six-panelled ledged door is located to the right.
