Description

Old Post Office Cottage is a house that was formerly three cottages, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of witchert on a rubblestone plinth, and is colourwashed and rendered. The building features thatched roofs with half-hipped gables and has a letter L plan, consisting of a two-bay south range and a three-bay east range, with one and a half storeys.

The south range, which is from the 17th century, has a central door that is blocked by a single light casement. To the left, there is a two-light leaded casement, and to the right, a three-light timber casement. An eaves dormer is located above, with the left-hand eaves dormer containing three leaded lights. The central stack is made of old thin bricks and indicates that the house was formerly designed as a lobby entry plan. The left gable features right-hand two-light casements and a three-light casement to the left.

At the rear, there is a door in the angle with the east range, which is sheltered by a tiled hood, along with two-light casements and one dormer. The east range has a left-hand door on the west elevation and five casement windows, mostly two-light. There are also two two-light eaves dormers. A stack is positioned between the south bays, and the rear or east elevation has a board door in front of the stack, with four ground floor windows and two eaves dormers. One window on the west elevation features a hood mould, and the north gable is finished with weatherboarding.
