Description
Biggs Cave is a house dating from the 17th century that has been altered over time. It features witchert rendering and a rubblestone plinth, with the left gable made of rubblestone on the ground floor. The exterior is all colourwashed, and it has a thatched roof that is half-hipped with timber-framed gables. The house consists of three bays and is one and a half storeys high.
On the north elevation facing the lane, there is a blocked door in front of the stack located between the left-hand bays. The windows are casement style, with the central window having two leaded lights. There is also a left-hand eaves dormer. Above the door, the wall extends upwards to form a swept-roof addition with a two-light casement window.
The south elevation, which faces the garden, has a door in the centre bay and irregular casement windows, along with a central eaves dormer. A stack made of 17th-century thin bricks is positioned between the eastern bays, indicating that the house originally had a lobby entry plan.
Inside, the house features inglenook fireplaces, chamfered and stopped spine beams, and a reused timber inscribed with 'I.S.W. 1609'.
