Description
Wood Farmhouse is a house built in the late 18th century, incorporating some materials from the 17th century that came from the demolished Boarstall Manor. The structure is made of red brick with some vitreous headers, featuring a chamfered stone plinth and quoins, as well as a moulded stone eaves cornice. It has a half-hipped old tile roof and rebuilt brick chimneys with stone caps. The house is two storeys tall with an attic and consists of three bays.
The southeast front displays stone mullion windows with arched lights, Tudor hoodmoulds, and narrow wooden glazing bars, with three-light windows on the ground floor and two-light windows on the upper storey. There is a central 20th-century door that has a late 18th-century radiating fanlight set in a depressed stone arch, surrounded by a shouldered stone architrave and pediment. The rear and side walls each feature two additional irregular bays with 20th-century barred wooden or metal casements in flush stone surrounds with keyblocks. A six-panelled door at the center of the rear has a hollow-chamfered stone surround with moulded imposts and a semi-circular arch with a keyblock, now topped with a 20th-century lean-to hood.
The interior includes early 18th-century bolection panelling in the ground floor room to the right, and a tall dado of 17th-century panelling in the entrance hall and the room to the left. There is also a single-storey extension with a garage that projects from the left bay of the rear.
