Description

Seven Gable Cottages, built around 1860 by G. Devey, is a picturesque pair of cottages. They feature a rubble stone plinth, with a ground floor made of red brick and Bath stone, and half-timbered gables topped with a plain tile roof. The cottages have tall diagonal brick stacks, one located on the south side wall of the crosswing and the other on the rear wall of the main range. The building is arranged in a T plan and has one and a half storeys. Leaded windows are present throughout. The crosswing includes a west gable with an oversailing timbered upper floor, which has a three-sided oriel set beneath the projecting apex of the gable, adorned with ornate bargeboards. On the south side, there is a tiled porch flanked by turned baluster screens. The long range is lower and features a stone mullion and transom four-light window, along with a door set in an arched surround on the west front.
