Description

The bronze statue on the parterre at Cliveden is a replica of Pluto and Proserpine, originally created by Giovanni da Bologna. It stands on a high stone pedestal and is positioned on steps. The statue features an inscription in Italian verse, dated 19 February 1861. Lord Astor purchased it from the Villa Borghese.
