Description

The Tortoise Fountain and enclosing wall, located on Cliveden Road in Taplow, was created around 1900 by T. Waldo Story for W.W. Astor. This marble fountain features three basins of decreasing size, set upon a central marble shaft. The upper basin is adorned with carved tortoises around its edge. Next to the fountain is a curved section of wall made from red brick and stone, which has a balustrade inspired by the Borghese balustrade.
