Description
Meaburn Hill Farmhouse is a house, likely built in the mid-17th century, featuring a gable entry. An extension on the north side is dated 1708 and has the initials I & SI on the door lintel. The building is constructed of coursed, squared rubble, with the south side rendered. It has a graduated slate roof with stone coping and a kneeler on the southern gable. The farmhouse has a double-pile plan and is two storeys high.
The original three-bay house includes remnants of a 17th-century four-light window, which is now blocked, with a 18th-century two-light window added in its place. There is also a 17th-century fire window to the left, a 17th-century two-light window (with the mullion removed), and a 19th-century sash window to the left, all beneath a hoodmould with a label. The first floor has similar window arrangements, with the fire window blocked. The two-bay extension features a part-glazed door on the left within a moulded doorcase that has the dated lintel, and there is a 19th-century sash window on each floor to the right. The house has stone chimneys in the middle and at the ends, with the south chimney being stepped and corniced.
Inside, there is a 17th-century panelled heck screen and stop-chamfered beams that have survived.
