Description
The garden walls and gatepiers at the front of Maulds Meaburn Hall were likely built around 1676 when the Hall was extended for the Lowther family. The walls are made of drystone construction using coursed, squared rubble and stand approximately 6 feet high, featuring chamfered copings. The gate piers, located opposite the main entrance to the house, are constructed from rusticated stone blocks and are square in plan, reaching about 12 feet in height. They include scrolled decoration on the plinth block and a deeply moulded cap topped with a ball finial.
