Description
Foredale Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1731, with 20th-century alterations and 17th-century origins. It features a pebbledash exterior with painted stone dressings and a slate roof. The building has a lobby entry plan and is positioned with its rear facing the street. It is two storeys high and has four bays.
On the garden front, the farmhouse has two storeys and three bays. A gabled entrance porch is located to the right of centre, featuring a moulded surround and a decorated lintel inscribed with "1731 TM G," along with a 20th-century half-glazed door. There is a former two-light chamfered mullioned window in the gable, although the mullion is now missing, and it has a cornice with 20th-century casements.
To the left on the ground floor, there is a former three-light mullioned window, with the mullions missing and the sill lowered in the 20th century to create a French window. On the upper floor, there are two former two-light double chamfered mullioned windows, also with missing mullions and lowered sills. To the right on the ground floor is a former three-light double chamfered mullioned window, with the mullion missing, and on the upper floor, there is a three-light flat-faced mullioned window with 20th-century casements and fixed lights.
The left-hand gable end has a ridge stack located to the right of centre, and the right-hand projecting gable end also has a ridge stack. Inside, the front left-hand room features a mid-to-late 18th-century fireplace with moulded imposts, a pulvinated frieze, and a projecting cornice decorated with fleur-de-lis and floral designs.
