Description

Studfold House is a house dating from the early 18th century, with later alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries, and has origins from the 17th century. It is constructed of rendered Horton slate with sandstone dressings and features a stone slate roof. The building has a central staircase plan and is two storeys high. Originally double fronted, it now has an additional late 19th-century bay to the right.

The entrance, which was formerly central, features a round-headed early 20th-century porch with a plain surround, imposts, a keyed round head, and a six-panel door. There are two 2-light windows on each storey, with flat-faced mullions and a central single light on the upper floor; these are sashes without glazing bars. The upper floor has a sill band, shaped eaves modillions, and chamfered quoins. The right-hand bay, added in the late 19th century, contains a plank door and one single-light window per storey, also sashes without glazing bars.

The house has gable end ridge stacks and a stack at the former right-hand gable. The left-hand return features a chamfered round-headed window to the pantry with a six-pane fixed light. The rear of the house includes a staircase window with a keyed round head and imposts.
