Description

Plantation Houses are a pair of houses built in the mid-18th century, with later alterations. They are constructed of coursed rubble with quoins, and have a stone slate roof. The houses are two storeys high and have a continuous outshut to the rear. Each house originally had two wide bays plus a central doorway, though the house on the right has an additional 12-pane sash window above the door. The windows in the first bay are 4-pane sashes set within projecting ashlar surrounds. In the second bay, the windows are 9-pane sashes with projecting sills and lintels. The third bay features 20th-century tripartite sashes with projecting sills and lintels. The fourth bay has sashes with marginal panes within projecting ashlar surrounds. Small timber porches with 20th-century glazed doors are present. The building has shaped kneelers, ashlar copings, and five ridge stacks with classical cappings.
