Description
Raw Croft New Farmhouse and attached farm buildings date from 1708 and 1799, built for Robert Hutchinson. The structure is made of watershot stone and rubble with stone slate roofs. The farmhouse features a central hallway entry and is two storeys high with two first-floor windows. It has a board door in a milled stone surround, with an inscription "R J" on the lintel, and 4-pane sash windows in milled stone surrounds throughout, all dating from 1799. The gable has coping and shaped kneelers, with end stacks.
The left barn is also two storeys high with one first-floor opening, featuring a board door in a wide blocked arch and a board pitching door on the first floor. There are two modern outshuts at the front that are not of special interest. The right barn is two storeys with three first-floor openings. It has a board door to the left in a stone surround with a depressed triangular head that bears the inscription "H I M," along with a string course above. To the right, there is a wide blocked arch with a 20th-century sliding door flanked by 20th-century fixed windows in blocked doorways. The first floor has a single-light fixed window in a chamfered stone surround to the left, with a pitching door and an unglazed window opening to the right. The gable has coping and a shaped kneeler on the right.
