Description
Townend Hall Farmhouse is a house dating from the mid-16th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of coursed rubble and has a stone slate roof. The building features a three-cell direct entry layout, with an additional porch at the front and an outshut at the rear. It has two storeys and three first-floor windows. The farmhouse has a plinth and a porch with a side door. All the windows are plate-glass sashes set in chamfered stone surrounds, except for a three-light fixed window located on the right end of the ground floor. The gable has coping, and there are stacks at both ends and on the ridge.
Inside, there is a basket-arched doorway with a moulded arch that contains the original battened oak door. The staircase is encased in original oak panelling, which features a fluted cornice and butterfly hinges on the door. The interior also includes massive stop-chamfered ceiling beams.
