Description

Langhorne House and Langhorne Cottage comprise two houses built together, likely in the mid to late 18th century. The houses are constructed of hammer-dressed rubblestone with a stone slate roof. They feature a hallway entrance and two storeys, with six windows on the first floor. To the left, a six-panel double door is set within a milled stone surround, flanked by sash windows with glazing bars. To the right, a six-panel double door is found within a pilastered doorcase supporting a Doric entablature, with two sash windows with glazing bars to the right. The first floor has sash windows with glazing bars, all with milled stone surrounds. A lead downpipe is present, along with a moulded rainwater head. The roof has gable coping, shaped kneelers, and banded end and ridge stacks. The interior of Langhorne House retains an original staircase with slender turned balusters, along with six-fielded-panel doors to the main rooms. Some H-L hinges are still present.
