Description
Weavers Yard consists of a pair of weavers' cottages, now combined into a dwelling and office. They were likely built around 1800 and have undergone recent alterations and renovations. The structure features mixed random rubble with quoins and a stone slate roof, arranged in a rectangular two-unit plan on the west side of the yard.
The exterior has three low storeys and four windows. There is a doorway in the center of the first floor, which was originally a pair of doorways, but the one on the left has been converted into a window. This doorway is accessed by a large flight of ten steps that rise along the front wall from the right and lead to an extended deck. The ground floor, or basement, includes a doorway and window to the left of the steps, and a shallow window to the right of the top steps. The first floor has two windows on each side of the doorway, with the left window having formerly been the second doorway. All these openings feature sandstone lintels. The second floor has smaller windows above the first and third windows on the first floor, and a blocked former window above the second. All windows have altered joinery. A gable chimney is located on the left side. The left gable wall has a low single-storey outbuilding attached at ground level, which was formerly used as privies, with through-stones on two levels above and two small windows on each upper floor.
The interior has not been inspected. This building forms a group with Nos. 5 and 7, which face from the opposite side of the yard.
