Description

High Lane Farmhouse with adjoining cottage and byres is a building that features an inscription on a panel stating "Rebuilt 1833 I.S.S.". The cottage, which is now part of the house, likely dates from the 18th century, while the byres were added in the mid to late 19th century. The cottage is constructed of limewashed rubble, while the house and byres are made of coursed squared rubble, with rusticated quoins on the house. The roofs are covered with graduated slate and have copings and kneelers on the house. The building is two storeys high. The lower two-bay cottage has a panelled door set in a doorcase with a segmental pediment, a small fixed window above, and a sash window on each floor to the right. The three-bay house has two windows on each floor, with an oval central panel on a band between the floors. The byres are attached to the right, with entrances located at the rear. The house features stone end chimneys, and there is a weather vane on the gable end of the byre range.
