Description
The cottage and byre at Keils, Jura, date from the mid 19th century. The cottage is a single-storey building with three bays and a lean-to on the east side. The north wall and east gable are made of limewashed rubble, while the other elevations are harled. It features a central door, two windows, and a small window on the rear elevation. The roof has straight skews, end stacks, and is covered with corrugated iron.
The byre to the east is now partially ruined, with only a single bay remaining. It has dry-stone walls and dressed quoins on the north side. The infill wall on the ruined gable end shows remnants of a lum. The roof trusses are very rough, and the roof is thatched.
