Description

Howe Cottage and No. 6 Maypole Green is a building that was originally a single cottage but has been divided into two. It dates from the early to mid 18th century and has undergone alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The structure is made of slobbered rubble brought to course, with stone dressings and a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and has two bays.

The paired central entrances feature plain surrounds and doors from around 1980. On the ground floor, there are two windows: the right-hand window is a two-light flat faced mullioned window with casements, while the left-hand window is similar but has lost its mullion. The upper floor has two three-light windows with moulded surrounds and flat faced mullions, which include casements and fixed lights. There are ridge stacks at the former gable ends.

To the right of No. 6, there is a 20th-century extension that includes a garage entrance on the ground floor and a small window on the upper floor. Internally, Howe Cottage has been opened up, incorporating one bay to the left of the gable end, which was once part of the separate cottage.
