Description
Brockwood Lodge is an early 19th-century lodge located in Bramdean, constructed from brick and finished with stucco, topped with a lead roof. The building is single storey and sits on a plinth, featuring two bays facing the drive and one bay at the end facing the road, which curves to the left. At the left corner of the road end, there is a quadrant wall that curves out to a pier at the road edge, while the right corner has 19th-century gates and piers, with pedestrian gates on either side of the carriage gates.
At the rear, there is a 19th-century block that measures two bays by one bay. The lodge is designed in the Greek Doric style, highlighted by a tall six-panel door that reaches up to the entablature, flanked by pilasters. On either side of the door, there are 12-pane sash windows with architraves. The frieze above the door features four wreaths, and there is a parapet above the cornice adorned with anthemions over the door and antefixa at each corner. The road end of the lodge has a recessed center below the entablature, featuring a 24-pane sash window, with a screen in front supported by two fluted columns and pilasters on either side, all topped with a similar entablature and parapet.
