Description

This is a barn located at Tulleywells Farm, built in the 18th century and incorporating some 16th-century timbers. It is a timber-framed structure with eight bays and an aisle on the north-west side. The barn is clad on three sides in brick laid in Flemish bond with grey headers, while the south-east side is weather-boarded above a brick plinth. The roof is hipped and covered with old tiles, topped with a weathervane featuring a coach and horses.

On the south-east side, there are two double cart entrances and three fixed casement windows. Attached to the north-west side is a single-storey brick building with a tiled roof and brick floor, likely used as a stock pen. The end bay of the barn on the south-west side has been converted into a workroom. The three end posts on the north-west side feature gunstock jowled posts and some curved braces at the wall plate, with this section and the partition wall made from reused 16th-century timbers. The remaining upright posts exhibit curved profiles typical of the 18th century. The roof structure includes through purlins, angled queen struts, and pegged rafters without a ridge piece. The wall plate has a midrail and diagonal braces, and the aisle posts rest on brick padstones.
