Description
Nos 47 and 48 on High Street are two houses that have been converted into shops. The left side dates from the late 18th century and features stucco with a plinth-type projection below the first floor. It has three storeys with three windows; the outer bays have bow windows on the first and second floors, and there are tripartite sashes in the centre. A very wide 20th-century shop front has a round pier supporting the building at the right-hand corner. The right side includes elements from the 17th and 18th centuries, constructed with mathematical tiles and even quoins. It has a parapet that hides a hipped roof, which is oriented end-on to the road. This side also has three storeys with a single bow window on the first and second floors, along with tripartite sashes. The wide shop front continues from Nos 45 and 46 to the left.
